Ok, things have gotten worse, and I have started a thread at xda-developers.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496614
Please feel free to post here or there, and I appreciate any and all suggestions.
I have an XV6800 that was originally a Qwest phone. I have flashed it with the official Verizon ROM and it works fine on their voice system, and WiFi works as well.
However, I cannot get it on the Verizon data network. Every time I try to connect to the data network I get the following error:
Data Call Failure
Error Code: 4
Network Authentication Failed.
I have contacted Verizon and they tell me that I am on my own in getting this phone to work on the data network.
Thers are the things I have tried that did not help:
* A DMU Reset (or least tech support told me they did one)
* Forced a CDMA only connection to download new keys (

* Switched from pay as you go data to unlimited data (for one day to test)
I'd really like to get this phone onto the digital network and would appreciate any help that anyone could offer.
**EDIT**
Now I'm really screwed. I swapped the number off the PDA and back to my old phone, and tried to get my wife's number onto the PDA. One of the threads I saw said activating the PDA with a different number and swapping it back to the original number sometimes works to get data going.
Now, I can't get the PDA onto the Verizon network, regardless of which number I use. I've tried my wife's number and I've tried the number I was using on the PDA for the last three weeks. When I call *228 and use option #3 it consistently fails.
Tech support is no help whatsoever. They are shocked that I was able to activate this Qwest phone (even with the Verizon ROM) and say they can't help me, at all.
**EDIT 2**
I am so freaking angry with Verizon. I just got off the phone with them and they are telling me that the data plan never went onto this number. If I had known that I would have never proceeded to the next step, switching the numbers around.
