Hey it's the man of the hour! Thanks for the response, I am buying you a beer.
I have done this using the poweron and off wave files, someone has some floating around on one of the omnia forums, but they beep. So I created new wave like like you suggested. Works like a charm!

Here are the files I created if anyone else wants to get rid of the startup and shutdown sounds. Just put them in the \Windows directory like Adrynalyne stated.
