Re: Texting and Battery Life?

100 texts = 25% battery seems pretty drastic. How much of an improvement are you seeing with forced 1X? I never noticed (or thought about) texting causing any significant drain. Any extension of battery life is always welcomed on my device though!

From observing a battery monitor app while sending texts, usage seems to spike an extra ~219mA for a few seconds whether or not I set my phone to 1X or Hybrid. It's hard to measure how long it spikes because the app has a polling interval but I'd guess anywhere from 2-5 seconds. Even on the longer end, 100 or so texts wouldn't make a huge dent. Does this observation have any validity or am I a total fool?
