Well a new development with mine.
I decided to try a trick I found on here about using rubbing alcohol to put on a screen protector without bubbles, worked pretty well.

But i got some alcohol on the gold of the battery cover. now since I'd had the cover a while, there were a few places where the gold had already rubbed off, specifically around the corners.
The alcohol accellerated this a LOT. The gold just started to almost flow off. So I just used one of the cotton balls I already had out and took the rest of the gold off. Its a shiney black plastic cover now.

Can you provide some pics of what it looks like now?
