I would say that there will be a 100% fail rate at some point, I think it just depends on how bad the screen is "leaking" and what other environmental factors play in. Anyone had the problem for a long time (like more than a couple months) and not had it fail yet? I also would wonder why anyone would hold on to one that long knowing there is a problem. Also most of us have fluorescent lighting in offices or places of work so I imagine those people wouldn't put up with it either.

On another note, the Sprint stores around MN all seem to have fluorescent lights but they are some sort of high intensity compact version, not the 4' tubes I have in my office. The one's in the Sprint store make it very hard to see the blob so be prepared to get some funny looks when you try to explain to an unknowing tech what is wrong. In fact this last time I got a replacement the guy that ordered it for me didn't understand, but also didn't hesitate to order the phone. However the guy that I picked the phone up from said, "Ohhhh, your the guy with the oil slick on your phone!". Apparently they had a good laugh after I left the store on Wednesday. They still efficiently took care of me, I ended up with another brand new TP in the box with all the accessories, and he let me keep my old battery. Not that I would have cared if it was a recon, but nice to have some more accessories.

Manufacture date is 2/18 so we'll see how it goes. This is my first '09 model.
