Obviously commercial software should be purchased rather than hacked/cracked - in other words stolen.

The problem with Weatherpanel is that the developer disappeared a couple of years ago and the software depends upon a proxy authorization server to function (even for folks like me who've purchased it). This server stopped functioning a couple of days ago. In other words customers can no longer use their paid-for software without employing the work-around described in the linked thread.
