I use it on my phone. Definitely does not cause separation. If you look at the pics on the ebay ad, you can see how it stays together. At the top and the bottom of the phone (or the left and right if you have the keyboard slid out) there are slides that hold it together.
Not the greatest feeling of a case, but everything else I've looked at pulls the keyboard side and screen side appart, which cannot be good for the phone. Using it until I find something better.
