Yea, I just tried it. You tap the letter that you want to get to on the right hand side of the screen, then you just kind of lightly put your thumb on top of the "ENTER" button (the circle button at the bottom) and kind of trace the edge of the circle with you thumb, it will scroll. I believe that is also how you can zoom in/out in Opera.

I believe the D-pad and the circle button are the same thing, and yes, you can just click the up/down part of the button to scroll.
