You don't know what you're talking about. Sprint does NOT own a single landline, that operation was spun off and is now called Embarq.

Sprint will be fine long term but they need to stop losing post-pay (contract) customers. Their customer service is horrid, and yet they seem to do nothing about it. I will say my last in-store interaction with Sprint was a positive experience, so maybe it is getting better.

Sprint's long term plan is to sell the iDen (Nextel) network to someone else, there has been some interest but that was before the credit crunch; I expect there will be an announcement sometime next year once the markets recover. Buying Nextel was a mistake and a purely defensive measure to keep from getting bought out by Verizon in a move to counter the merger between AT&T-Cingular.
