Maximizing Windows Mobile performance - how many files in your IMGFS?
Chefs,
The number of files in the IMGFS has a direct impact on Windows Mobile performance, due to the way a request for a file to be retrieved from NAND is handled. Applications installed after boot (to directories other than \Windows) do not affect this performance (at least at a file system level). This is one of the reasons stripped ROMs are so fast.
So my question is this: How many files + modules do you have in your IMGFS directory (number of files or modules at the root of the dump directory before the ROM is created)?
Give me a short 2-3 sentence description of your ROM (stripped totally nude, semi-naked, moderate bloatware, blinged-out glam edition, etc.) and the number of files + modules. Pls include SYS version and pagepool size and phone (Sprint or VZW).
I'll start with my semi-naked personal ROM. 21018 SYS, all HTC bloatware but on a diet, Manila (primary file offender at 600 files), You-tube (201 files). 2977 files + modules. It seems quite fast / responsive. 10MB pagepool on VZW HW. I strip all the .RGU and .DSMs.
Thx - FPOS
P.S. Has anyone tried forcing Manila or YouTube to a directory other than \Windows (after boot - i.e. not part of IMGFS)?
