I think they are found under IBM IVE, which is under \my documents, if I recall. And no, I don't think you can delete the Java applet without deleting Gmaps.

So after using both GoogleMaps alone and Map4PDA, even though it's slower to load up at first, I have to give my respect to Map4PDA.

It's way cooler, has tons more functions, and is very, very powerful. Give it as shot:
