I was in the same boat as you. I tried two different USB cables, switched the "enable advanced network features" on and off, reset my phone and laptop, notta.

Last night, I plugged in a Bluetooth USB dongle to my laptop, and went to activesync on my phone and selected connect with bluetooth. The computer finally recognized my Touch Pro, and installed the drivers. I tried about 10 minutes later to connect with the USB cable, and this time it recognized my phone.
