That's interesting. I wonder if they actually include some kind of utility to clean the entire ROM on preproduction devices. I suppose a utility that could launch into the bootloader then format the drive isn't that far fetched, but I wonder if any companies actually go that far. Also seems possible that the reporters may have simply misinterpreted what they were told. Remote wipe is a standard feature for enterprise devices, but that doesn't include wiping the ROM. Plus, you're relying on the assumption that the device has service and the radio is on.
