Whats funny is that you outlined nearly everything I was thinking, just in inverse.

Since the TP hardware can hardly support video whats the point of trying to do it on more pixels. I dont need to see my pictures or contacts that much better. Sure, web use would be a little nicer, but its only less zooming, not getting rid of zooming altogether. Not to mention how much bigger it makes the phone.
I don't care about Flashlight because I forgot I even had one and it is pointless for me.....Mute Button > Flash
Eih, a little backlighting might make a couple more usable pictures, but yeah, minor point. Toss-up IMO.
Custom TF3D > Normal TF3D (yes there may be a hack to come but I rather have it ready)
Custom TF3D = Normal TF3D
The custom mods to TF3D make it look so much better, similar things will be true of the new version as well. And heck, making it your own is half the fun. The landscape TF is SWEET though.
Possible Upgrade to WM 6.5 > Just 6.1
WM6.5 = WM6.1
IMO NBD, WM7 is the one I'm looking for anyways. Plus TF3D makes WM6.1 look pretty anyways, its just he back end that is still fugly. So TF3D or WM6.5, personally I prefer the look of TF over even 6.5, and you still need the stylus for many WM apps so its not like WM6.5 would allow you to ditch that little piece of hardware.
TP2 Keyboard > TP Crammy Keyboard
Well, I dont think I could disagree with you on this one
Tilt Screen > Basic (sure why not have the tilt)
It might be a nice feature, I couldnt tell you.
Issues others pointed out and my take on it
Weak Camera - for me I can care less, I never even took a pic with my camera, cell cameras always suck to me, and I find it easier just to have a handy digital cam with me
For me, I never have a camera when I want one. Granted, I could carry a cam with me everywhere I went, but thats just one more expensive thing to loose.
Battery Life - Sucks, but I have accepted that HTC will always suck when it comes to Battery....so I always buy a extra one.
From what I hear thats too true. Then again, with some of the battery tweaks that are out, it would suck to not make it that last hour of the day because of that .8 more screen.
Yes its a small upgrade (like every other company), but I feel like its time for a larger screen and a real full touch screen (DPAD sucks to me). So The larger screen, Better Keyboard,Zoom feature,Custom TF3D,Better Speaker Phone (useful I live in NY, use speaker when driving), and the tilt function is worth it for me.
I have to say the TP2 is the land mark for me, so if the TP3 comes with just minor upgrades I will kindly wait for the TP4 of whatever is next, but I have to get rid of the lame small screens, crammy keyboards, DPAD and feel like I finally have a real touch screen phone.
So After TP2, HTC better come harder.

Not being argumentative, just using your views as a counterpoint to mine since they were very similar, just opposite.
For me I can only justify the cost if it fills some blanks, or makes my travels lighter. The TP might do that for me, a quick anytime camera (you need a camera less when you decied to bring one then when you forget it at home), a video playback machine (airports, hotel rooms), and a web browser (bringing a laptop into the head is a PITA). I understand it wont do all of these things well, but why go for just a bigger screen if it means sacrifices on many of the other things, video playback is bad already and it will only get worse, battery life will only be worse, web browsing will be marginally better (only marginally), and, well, a toss up on the camera.
IMO, a bigger screen is a minor upgrade, kinda like a new grill on a pickup truck. Heck, that might be why its called the Pro
2 as opposed to something completely different. Think of this as not a new phone (6mo after the last one was released!?) but as a face lift to a current phone while they ready new ones. Hopefully the face lift included some software as well.
I do hope the TP2 comes to sprint though. Because that means the TP might go down in price due to demand dropping as everybody waits on the TP2.
