erm...

What I did was...

FOR ALARM CLOCK:

1. Convert the mp3 to wav
2. put in storage
3. use File Explorer to copy the file from storage to \Windows\
4. you will be able to see it in the setting for alarm clock ring tones


FOR MESSAGE:

1. Copy the mp3 (do not need to convert) from whichever location to \Application Data\Sound\
2. In the setting for the message tone... just pull down the menu and you should be able to see that

I am using WM6
