What I do is I take the battery cover off, open the keyboard, rest it on an angle and keep the screen on. It seems to be working so far! It just has to be overheating.

Terrible solution for such an expensive device.

My phone is locking up sometimes while charging overnight as described in this post with multiple other people having the same problem. The d-pad ring light is lit and the phone only responds to a soft reset. I am a computer engineer and the reasoning given to me on the phone by an HTC rep today is not sufficient. IF the phone is overheating while charging, then htc has a bug to fix. IF Windows Mobile is locking up, then htc has a bug to fix. Basically, htc has a bug to fix. I would like a response to exactly what is causing this and what htc plans to do about it, in writing. Otherwise, I will spend my time submitting videos of my phone locked up to all the computer and tech magazines I can find until someone fixes my phone. Wishing I stayed with Samsung, Kevin

There is no solution. This phone overheats all the time... while charging, while talking, while surfing...while getting bad reception--you name it.
The only solution is to return it and hope you get one that does not do this.
Or return it for another phone altogether. Most people on this forum are such hardcore, do-or-die Windows Mobile fans, that they can live with huge, crippling oversights on HTC's part. The fact that HTC denies everything and bastically says STFU and GTFO is pretty disheartening.
I'll be hard-pressed to ever buy another HTC product after this string of godawful quality control/design flaws...
