not exactly sure on the answer to that question, looking at the 002-htcvolumecontrol.dll (from tsowens) vs. htcvolumecontrol.dll (whc) in windiff shows the files do have some differences...
guess it's worth a shot, worst case scenario is that it doesn't work and you'll have to flash again
