Consensus seems that this works well for Mogul, but not quite as well on TP. If you are swapping ROMs then this is not for you...try sprite.

This program runs on your device and creates a backup of your goodies (contacts, calendar, call history, sms) right on your phone. No installation is necessary, just run the .exe on your phone. Obviously the next step is to use one of the above syncing services to regularly send the backups to the cloud.
