My battery life seemed horrible for the first 2 weeks or so, then got a bit better. I decided to hard reset to stock config, a couple days later the battery life doubled. I think part of it is a combination of use, and part of it is allowing the battery meter to calibrate (supposedly the battery doesn't have memory, so that doesn't need to be broken in, so only thing I can think of to explain it is a better calibrated meter, even though previously I'd only get ~12 hours before it died, and now under similar "light" usage I can get 48-72 hours before it dies).

Your two 30 min phone calls (1 hr total) would use up probably 25-35% of your battery, at least based on how much power I've seen the phone radio to draw, and it depends on how long you previously were using Opera, and how long it was "active" data connection, but for example if the phone was actively downloading for 30 minutes, then that would drain another 15-20% of battery, and then every hour the screen is on will use another 5% or so. Plus, just being in standby (screen off, but phone on, nothing active) is going to use ~1-2% each hour.

The battery life isn't great, but it isn't as bad as I first thought it was. I've said before, but I'm REALLY hoping that a radio software update can fix the power drainage from using the phone/data, because that is a HUGE killer in performance (and for some reason is significantly more than other phones)
