I will agree, GPS needs no connection or service from the carrier but aGPS does. As has been said before aGPS will assist in giving faster locks but since you are using iGuidance and not Google maps, I dont see why you would need a dala plan. I dont know a lot about the MR1/MR2 updates as I learned to stay away from them for a long time but I do know (again, as was already said) VZW locks the GPS with thier radio so we all have had to flash a Sprint radio on a VZW phone to get our GPS to work.
