Although most the time when I did put it in my pocket, the screen was off, but when I did forget, never accidentally hit something. I'm mostly talking about during the day when I'm at work with my phone at my desk or docked at my computer at home. At work, I like to be able to rest my device up against something so I can watch TV, or see the screen for anything else that may come up. It's an inconvenience to have to lean over and hit the power button just to see if anything has happened with my phone. It may be a small one, but I've see a lot of people complain about much smaller things, especially when it comes to a PPC. Would have been much better if HTC would have just used a bigger battery.

I was wondering why anyone would want their screen on at all times. I believe our phones turn the screen on automatically if there is any service activity (call, text, etc...). Just out of curiosity, what exactly are you checking your phone for?
