i thanked you in ur post by accident...lol...but anyway yes it is a hardware thing, basically all a radio Rom upgrade does is provide better reception, signals, etc...its upgrading to a better radio...all ROMS are basically hardware with cooked in software
now if you have a non functional radio in your phone then all the radio Rom upgrades in the world won't help you and you need to get a new phone
