If your connection is disconnecting...I guess the first question would be....Were you in a good covverage location? I have inconsistant connection while at work, and sometimes I get a message, and sometimes not. If you were in a strong signal area, I would try to have a friend send you another message. Start easy...maybe a picture taken on a cell phone. If you still don't get it a trip to VZW may be in order.

P.S. Do you have data issues in general, or just with this MMS? Also...any 3rd party apps we should know about that may be affecting the message or data?
