Well when it shuts off, it has to go through the VZW splash screen on boot. Kinda like a soft reset, except you have to hit the power button to make it go on again.
The big thing I noticed was, that even before ShutXP was even installed, the phone failed to shut down when holding the power button. You know when you hold it down, and get the yes/no windows dialog? Nothing happened at all. And this happened to me on the SSK and bored ROMs both, but not with stock nor VZNav 2 or so.
