Augh... nope, no such luck. The guy did all sorts of stuff and in the end I got no further than I started.
He reset everything (set everything back to defaults as he said) and couldn't get me the $29 plan because my phone "doesn't support it" (like VCast). Verified the DUN settings, soft reset a few times, and the last available option was to hard reset the phone, which I was like, euh, yeah... uh... I think I'll just live with it. Wanted to see if he knew anything about EPST settings, but at that point he was like, well, that's not something we support... it's like hacking the phone and we have no idea what settings could get messed up like that. So, facepalm.
However, the first time I tried connecting after the second soft-reset (he changed something else), the first connection attempt took significantly longer than usual. Not sure if that's significant or anything, but it's definitely something different...
I really think it has something to do with the phone's embedded file system. Something in there is corrupted and I have no way of fixing it because nobody seems to have ever posted a dump of their XV6700's non-indentifying EFS files. Maybe I should try changing "11111111" back to "VZW__001" in nvm_htc? Or does that file even matter?
I guess at any rate, "facepalm", since I can't even get data service on this thing to begin with. It's good to have a working, stable PPC back, but I'm sure the novelty of having an all-in-one device versus two devices that can do "anything" (hey, the VX8300 is a _very_ capable and flexible communications device - it can cancel accidental texts unlike the Apache! LOL).
I'm just coming to realize how off-topic I've gotten this... lol. But thanks for the help none the less
EDIT: I'm using
this ROM, with the radio, ExtRom, and OS all flashed in one go. I aborted the customization and applied most of the CABs manually without the restrictive CABs installed.
