Oh it took some work, They tried to tell me the same thing, I actually went through asurion at first, they couldn't do anything for me because they don't even have the touch pro in yet.
So I called Verizon, told them of how horrible I was treated by one of their reps, about how I have had to call them 4 times about the A-Key since I got the phone in August of '08, and how I was over 2 hours late to a job, which cost my company money, because of this issue, She was extremely sweet, in fact if I knew where she was I probably would have asked her out, LOL
Anyway she talked to tech support first, they told her the exact same thing they told me, just as rude too, so that ticked her off, and she went to her supervisor and was able to authorize me for a free upgrade to the Touch. I told her that if possible I'd like to get the TP because of the keyboard, so she talked to her supervisor again and let me know that she could but couldn't do it for free, it would cost $50
I was like yeah I guess that's ok... In reality I was as happy as could be, $50 for a $500 phone is a great deal
