Free: 42mb

That last number is the important one. It's kinda low. Not Mogul or 700w low, but it's lower than the 800w and GSM Treo Pro (both 128mb) where you have 70mb free.

Why the difference? Dunno.

Will it matter? Depends on your usage.

Either way, it's f'in stupid. LOL They should have had at least 70mb FREE RAM minimum today and 100+mb to be competitive.

Just think: add in plugins, memory resident apps, scripts and memory tweaks and you can take 10-12mb off of 42mb.

So now you have maybe 32mb and you haven't even launched a single program yet. That's not catastrophic, but it's getting tight.

So 2+ years after I bought my 700wx (which has essentially 60mb of program storage) all Palm could do was give us 20mb's more?!?!?!?!

I love the form of the Treo but it seems for me going from a 700wx to the 850 would be a "lateral transfer". Might be holding out for the Pre or something else.

late,
Coz
