Is there a way to change this or update the Contact Manager?
If I reinstall the finger flick, the new contact shows up.

ContactsManager won't pick up updates made outside itself once started. I believe the author is aware.
Reseting your phone (i.e. /w the stylus reset switch) will close it down and let it be updated. Alternately you can run it in non-fullscreen mode and use the X button to close it down and restart it.
