Re: Battery Killer

Hello All,

First of all, I am not here to bash...just to wish.

I have had many Windows Mobile Devices before going to a BB 8130 Pearl. Had that for 1.5 yrs. Went back to HTC's Pro and Diamond (2x). It amazes me how much of a "battery hog" Windows Mobile Devices are.

I have recently switched back to a BB 8330 with US Cellular. For an example, I was on an Amtrak train for 7 hrs on a slow weather delayed train from Chicago to Stl. I literally surfed the web, instant messaged, talked on the phone and emailed for the entire time except two short snack stints of about 15 minutes each.

I also used it on the 1 hr ride to my house, quite extensively. When I arrived at home, it was @ 45%!

I am not embellishing even a little bit! I really wanted to stay with my WM device as I liked the threaded texting and the larger amount of software readily available.

My problem was also was that to send and receive email, there was no filtering with having an exchange server. BlackBerry filters!

Also, for whatever reason, BB devices makes much less of a task of internet, text, email and phone use from a battery standpoint.

THIS IS NOT A NOTE TO PUSH FOR BLACKBERRY DEVICES USE....MORE OF A PLEA FOR OTHER COMPANY'S TO LEARN SO THAT THEY CAN COMPETE!

That said, I would suggest "might rom" 3.9 or higher. It helped the battery issues emmensly.

Hopefully someday soon, I'll be back as an active member of this very helpful forum.
