I had a similar issue, my bars would go from full bars to no bars constantly. I wouldn't receive calls, even from people right next to me. Called up Sprint Tech Support and she knew exactly what was going on. Was advised to replace phone from where I bought it (BB). Phone was also getting very hot, and could not go more than a few hours without having to charge (even drained while on a call and charging). You may have a defective unit as I did.
