Obviously, the iPhone/iPod touch screen is going to be more durable (as far as scratches), as it is capacitive and the outer layer is glass. The Diamond/Pro has a resistive touch screen, which has a flexible outer layer (usually some type of plastic) in order to allow contact between the layers of the touch screen. I've had an original iPod touch since it was released without any screen protection, and there's not a single scratch on the screen.
