I believe I have a related issue. I try to stream radio with my diamond while plugged into the wall, and the battery loses power. I believe this is what is happening with the tethering too. Basically the the battery discharge causes the phone to heat up too much so that it stops charging to avoid overheating. I am willing to bet that if you start tethering after the phone is fully charged, that it will be able to maintain the full charge (much like what I have discovered when I am streaming).

Basically I think when the battery is not fully charged, and the phone is plugged in, the battery powers the phone while the power adapter attempts to charge the battery. However, the battery gets too hot, and the power adapter stops charging the battery. I believe that the power adapter should be powering the phone first, and then charging the battery with whatever power is remaining, and we wouldn't have this problem. When you charge your phone (without using data or talking), the phone doesn't really get that hot. It only gets hot when you are using data or talking on the phone where battery discharges. I wouldn't be surprised if the phone also loses power while plugged in and talking on the phone for a long time.

Whenever the phone is fully charged, it will maintain the charge and not lose power because the phone is now being primarily operated by the power from the adapater and not the battery. You will also notice that the phone does not get very hot either.

I would think that there would be a sofware fix that would set the power priority to tell the phone to be powered by the adapter first and then charge the battery with remaining power. I am not a developer, but I hope this eventually gets some attention from HTC or maybe one of the greate developers on this forum.

Here is the link to the other thread that talks about battery problems when charging and streaming at the same time: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...charging+issue
