Sorry, but your very wrong here. Stretching a picture does NOT change the resolution.


Edit: Just so you know, it's refered to as "interpolation". They do this when selling cheap camera's. They advertise it as a 12mp (interpolation) with a 5mp CMOS. Its done all the time, a quick search on ebay shows you an example. Here, look at specs at the bottom:
