Edit: USB connection produces "USB Device not recognized" on computer and "check usb cable..." on PPC every attempt to connect. I have to unplug/replug the usb cable after connected for it to be recognized.

To use the wireless modem on your Pocket PC via USB cable, you need to
disable Active sync, enable the wireless modem app on your PDA then connect the device to your PC.
