Re: Safe Mode

I just got so lucky I can't believe it.

I thought my phone was bricked completely. I had just installed Ultimate Launch, gone into the settings, and made some changes. When I applied the changes, my phone froze and the only way I could get it to respond to anything was by pulling the battery and restarting. After several attempts at pushing/holding buttons while it started up, I was about to give up and do a hard reset. What a ***** it would have been to reinstall/configure everything. Plus, I haven't run a backup in awhile, so I'd lose a good amount of contacts, messages, etc.

So I finally tried plugging the phone into my computer, and while the phone was starting up, I noticed that active sync would temporariliy connect on the computer for a second or two before the phone froze up and was unresponsive. It wasn't long enough to allow me to click on the "Explore" button in active sync, though.

So I opened up windows explorer, went to the "Mobile Device" object under My Computer, restarted the phone, and as soon as I saw some activity in the active sync window, I hit F5 to refresh explorer, and my phone's files popped up. I quickly went into the Program Files directory, and deleted the Ultimate Launch directory. It gave me an access violation error for UltimateLaunch.dll, but everything else was deleted. I looked at my phone and it wasn't frozen! There was a message at the top of the today screen saying some error occured in Ultimate Launch, but that was no big deal. I went to my today screen settings, disabled Ultimate Launch, then uninstalled it.

Everything seems back to normal now. Very nice.
