i don't believe htc is coming with an update anytime soon, the phone just came out. I haven't done any rom updates but I'm very familiar with them, I'm wondering which issues you're expecting to be fixed? The stock rom is very stable and the only real problems would be the heat and battery issues which aren't really issues, just gripes that people have. Other then that I don't see anything else wrong with the rom. People are using other roms, but I believe those are mostly just for speeding up their TP and making it more responsive.
