That's a great question.
If you downloaded a ROM which has some customization element that you want to change, the best way to achieve your goal is to contact via Private Message, the chef or cook who produced the ROM.
More than likely, the cook included the customization as a way of
branding the work-product that they produced. In many cases the work-product isn't entirely new software, but it does include the effort (time) taken to (a) learn how to perform the changes and (b) to make the changes in a way as to arrive at a stable result.
So, when you post in the open forum that you would like to change the C4RB0N ROM by removing or changing the splash screen, the perception is that you may want to reproduce and perhaps publish the ROM with your own customizations, without giving credit to the original chef. This isn't a totally unrealistic conclusion, because if you wanted to involve the original chef, you would have posted in the ROM thread or sent a PM.
So, anyway ... blah, blah, blah ... the sound of my keyboard is boring me. I just thought a little bit of background on the issue might help you to understand.
