Not really. Pocket Plus adds some extra tabs / functionality if you use it as today screen plug-in tab from Mobile Shell. There is another, more sophisticated way of using them together but I haven't tried it yet. A guide to using them together here:

There are some free apps to make your "X" close files. I think they have already been covered in the forums.
BTW. I found S2U2 to be unstable on my Omnia and removed it.
