^ Exactly, because the sound is now being projected more from the center of the device rather than out of the top or out of the side (which is away from your ears)

Makes me wonder why they didnt pick up on this old concept during development.. the samsung A720 utilized this idea with a small pinhole speaker port on the bottom of the unit for external sound that was meant to be covered while the phone was standing up during playback. Made the audio sound very full and loud.
