I can use GPS and talk on the phone while using a Car Charger (it was a Motorola USB car charger for the V3)... And no the AC was not on...
But I do understand this is a widespread problem... Maybe you should wait to charge AFTER the phone call, that way not as much heat is generated while you have it pressed to your face?
