what exactly did you edit?
I'd like to know the same, I'm afraid someone is bending the truth

No lies lol here goes... I did this with resco (phm reg editor works too).. u gota go to HKEY-LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>HTC>HTCHOME>Weather>setting s>

Basically here it is with screen shots .. first of all .. all I did was pick a city from the list thats in my state.. closest to me and then edited the registry..
few screenshots

scroll down to software
1.

settings
2.

bastically u will see 4 icons like at the bottom.. default.. celsius.. location..location code.. tap on location and u will get this window

All i did here was just edited the city that was already there wich was los angeles(see next pic) and typed in mine.. saved settings and then downloaded temps again and had no problems whatsoever.

3. Also u have to edit this seccion by clickin on location code and editing the last part replace with your city saved settings and then downloaded temps again and had no problems whatsoever. I know it says LA in screenshot but it reads my current city just left it like that so you guys can se.

The following screenie here I clicked on Celsius and I changed the dword value to 0 ..default was one.. this was to have the temps displayed in Fahrenheit

basically just saved settings and didnt even soft reset the fone.. hehe

Edited.. forgot #3 screen shot
