The software has some improvements but it is mostly a new release to officially support a bunch of new devices including the touch pro.
It already supported the touch pro from day one... I've been using it almost every day. I think engadget just never tried it and then saw that slingmedia.com updated their support list... concluding that it wasn't supported before...
