With my old BT GPS device, when I attempted to acquire a lock within a few fours and in the same location it would lock fast. However, if I moved it far away from the original location or didn't turn it on for a while it would take forever to lock. I think the same situation is happening here.
I can assure you I'm using true aGPS. Standalone GPS does not lock indoors, period.
