Well here's the latest:
I DID, in fact, hard reset my phone. It reinstalled everything like it does on a fresh boot, then I plugged it in... and it worked. It's been connected or a solid 5 minutes now so I'm optimistic. Maybe I DIDN'T get a lemon!
The question now is: What caused it? Is there a known bug in the compact .NET 3.5 framework? I'm not going to install that and I'll leave the weather alone for now (as a sidenote - anyway to fix weather without updating the framework?). But I just want to make sure I don't get 6 hours into modding this beautiful little machine and have it all ruined by ActiveSync.
