Well there is obviously a button underneath, it seems to be the same concept as the Blackberry Storm button. There isn't a button for each corner (maybe 1 for each side?), when it clicks it determines where you were pressing to decide which action to perform.

I didn't know this and actually I am kind of relieved. I always try way too hard to get to the very edge to hit "End" because I don't want to accidentally hit the "right" button. Knowing this makes it somewhat easier, though I definitely feel where you're coming from OP, it's cold in the midwest...however I'm a stubborn idiot and never wear gloves haha.
