Hi, I'm Erin, a Sprint-Nextel techsupport rep. There is no camera by the earpiece on the front of the HTC Touch Diamond. The camera is on the back of the phone. You can see diagrams, including the earpiece on the front and the camera on the back, on pages 12 and 13 of the HTC Touch Diamond User Guide.
