I generally do not like walking around in our -7F degree weather without big gloves so this affected me as well yesterday (as I was waiting outside). But I was able to get it to work after pressing it many times; perhaps it registered a capacitive touch after that but that wouldn't make sense with how Capacitive touch works. There are physical buttons underneath but perhaps they FIRST rely on Capacitive touch to make sure a person is trying to push the button and not accidental in pocket or otherwise.

Maybe that is WHY it worked after a couple tries, because I was so persistent?

noticed that too, but i think it has to do more with your fingers letting out SOME type of charge which builds over time, because after you click a few times and then the 8th or 9th time that it actually works, it wont work AFTER that ONE succesful entry.

Not sure what this is about, but maybe, since its based on sensitivity, there could be an app developed to control the amount of electrivity the conductor plate senses. I highly doubt that theres more than one hardware button underneat, that would prove to be of extra cost to htc. Rather they would utilize capacitive touch, and have it recognize which part of the panel is being touch, in sequence activating ONE button which is pushed, in accordance with the specific coordinates of the touch on the panel
