Re: Verizon Promises Gps Unlock!!
couple things
a little birdie told me several days prior to the party line changeing that they had targets an update fort he Saga for Q1 to fix the gps. SO I think the saga at least is aiming for Q1 and they say first half to cover their butts when they delay- but shouldn't be year end.
Second- their network is "open" now. Problem is they didn't open it the way we all envisioned/hoped. They opened it so 3rd parties can build devices and buy wholesale time. From what I gather the only taker is some company that makes a doodad that sits on your oil tank and sends a sms to your oil company when your tank needs a filling. So the consumers are still hosed but verizon has an "open" netwrok to keep the FCC and google's lawyers off their back.
anywho- bottom line- cell phone's aren't a necessity, we live in a capialist society so if we dont like vz's policies and prices and features we need to walk. The problem is the "good" cdma provider, sprint, is dying while vz is making money hands over fist. So the lack of open GPS really hasn't done anything to them as far as dadamging their profits- maybe google threatened to sue on this too that googlempas didn't work.
