I can confirm that while I have problems with BT I do NOT have HTC X installed.
thought I'd send a cleaner list of items that will NOT solve the BT issue so you don't have to repeat my efforts if you prefer not -
I can confirm the following will NOT solve the issue on my phone -
preventing the sprint custom apps from installing on bootup
pairing from a distance
Staying still during a call
Getting more than 3 bars for phone reception
not installing HTC X
not installing additional apps
putting a full charge on my phone and headset
making sure my headset is no more than a few feet from my phone with a direct line of site and no case
Hard resetting/clearing my phone
making sure the headset is the ONLY BT item on my phone - I do NOT have a PC with a BT connection to my phone.
Using a BT 2.0 headset
Using a headset with DSP
Using a headset without DSP
Talking loudly
Talking quietlyTurning WIFI off
Turning OMA/activesync off
Using my arms like an antenna to tune in my call
I can confirm I don't have any problem hearing my clients ever - the issue is at the remote end - the person calling you or that you call suffers the BT issue.
There are some who say they haven't had any issues so it is possible that some phones don't have this issue however some who said they weren't having the issue have since then changed that statement and say they started having issues. There are two things that account for this
1. the issue is random - some calls are fine and some are not - it also sometimes happens on good calls as your time on the line extends.
2. Since the issue is at the other end - not on your end of the 6800 many assume that since their end sounds fine - it must be for the person on the line with them.
I'm still trying to get any positive confirmations form people who have had the phone for at least a week and spend a good amount of time on the phone they haven't encountered the issue yet. If that is the case, the issue may be with quality/batches of the 6800. Or it may be the luck of the draw they just haven't encountered the issue yet as it is random however after a couple of weeks of heavy use, chances are they should have encountered it if it effects all the 6800s.
I get the feeling the issue is more likely a driver/stack issue than a bad batch of phones however only time will tell. I'd suggest you call 866-449-8358 if you are experiencing the issue as only a flood of calls will probably get any true forward momentum onthe solution.
