Once the clock is disabled, the battery meter shows up. Apparently the clock overwrites the meter. Note: wait a minute or two before doing a soft reset so it will update the registry once you change it. You should be good to go.

I want to make this change but when I check my registry I don't see the "ShowTitleBarClock" |
Make sure you are at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell because it should be there. If not, you could add a new dword value.
